3 Plant Based Sandwiches EVERYONE will LOVE | Restaurant Quality
I've worked at a handful of restaurants throughout my life and have picked up a few things along the way. These sandwiches are vegan versions of some of my favourites.
The first is a Baked Tofu, brie and fig jam sandwich with spiced apples and spinach on a toasted ciabatta bun.
The second a classic mediterranean roasted veggie sandwich where I show you how to make a quick oil-free hummus to go on it and a tasty avocado spread to tie it all together.
The third is a plant based version of the classic Sloppy Joe! Instead of ground meat I use lentils. It's a bit sweet, smoky and definitely sloppy.

Recipes:
*These all make 2 large sandwiches
Baked Tofu, Brie & Fig Jam Sandwich
Ingredients:
1 block of Extra Firm Tofu
Tofu Marinade:
2 tbsp soy sauce1 tbsp water
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp garlic powder
2 Green ApplesFig Jam
Vegan Brie (or your favourite vegan cheese)
1 Handful of Spinach
2 Ciabatta Buns
Method:
Mix tofu marinade and allow to sit for 10 minutes.
Cut extra firm tofu into 3/4 inch slices like this. S
core the tofu to give the seasoning somewhere to go and help it crisp up.
Add the tofu slices to the marinade and give it a quick press, flip and repeat.
Bake on baking tray for 35-40 minutes in a preheated oven at 400 f.
Slice 2 green apples and toss them in a bit of cinnamon.
After the tofu has been baking for 25 minutes add the apple slices to the baking tray and cook for another 10-15 minutes
Toast the ciabatta until crispy and put the sandwich together. Spread the Fig Jam on the bun and add the Sliced Brie. Layer on the tofu, apples and spinach.
Mediterranean Roasted Veggie Sandwich
Ingredients:
2 Bell Peppers
1/2 Large Onion
1 Large Zucchini
Black pepper
Hummus *Watch video for easy oil free hummus recipe
1 Ripe Avocado
8 Black Olives
1 Small Handful of Basil
Salt/Pepper
Method:
Slice and roast the veggies at 500f.
Watch for them to start to blacken, this is when you want to remove them. The peppers will finish first, then the onion then zucchini.
While that is cooking, in a small bowl add avocado, chopped olives, chopped basil, salt and pepper. Mix well.
Toast Ciabatta bun or your favourite bread
Spread on some hummus, the avocado spread and layer on the veggies.
Finish with some balsamic reduction and enjoy!
Vegan Sloppy Joes
Ingredients:
2 Cans Of Lentils
1/2 an onion
1 green bell pepper
1.5 cups of tomato sauce
1 tbsp of tomato paste
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 package of chili seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
Method:
Chop and sauté the onion and bell pepper in a pre-heated sauce pan for 5-10 minutes.
Add the strained lentils, tomato sauce, tomato paste, maple syrup and chili seasoning.
Mix well and simmer for 10 minutes.
Serve on a toasted hamburger style bun or your favourite bread.

I have been making and eating this for awhile now and really love it as a savory dish with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika and liquid smoke. But today I tried it using cinnamon, allspice and vanilla.....so good!!!! This is replacing my homemade soy tofu. It's so easy and quick to make and so delish!!! Thanks!!!

Yeah he wouldn’t be my first choice to go to for info that’s for sure.
So you have also noticed that legumes blended with water stick like crazy to frying pans that are not non-stick? I thought I was going crazy when I tried to fry some lentil pancakes from red lentils blended with water, but found them sticking really badly to every pan I tried it in unless it was non-stick. The same thing happened when I was trying to make mung bean pancakes. Good to know that I'm not the only one who am having problems with those!
I can’t be bothered to go through the labor intensive messy process of making Chinese style tofu (curdling, pressing). Burmese is much more feasible. It’s a lot less protein-dense isn’t it? Looking for ways to up my protein (and leucine and lysine intake).

Amazingly easy and tasty. Thank you 🙏 I made a slight variation that may help Added 1/4 tsp of Asafoetida powder. This helps with not being gassy. Add this to any beans and lentils dish. Other additions/mods garlic chop: 8 cloves Red chili flakes: 1 tsp Paprika: 1/2 tsp Pepper: 1 tsp For pasta used Banza chickpeas penne 227g Barilla red lentil Rotini 250g Spinach substitute for kale

Game Changing Vegan Protein Source: Eden Soy Milk. It’s pretty much liquid tofu (both 1 g protein/10 cal) (but more nutritious). No other supplements or ingredients, just soy beans and water. Non gmo and organic.
Going vegan has helped immensely with what I thought were my arthritic hands. Turns out that dairy and eggs caused a lot of inflammation in the small joints of my hands and neck. At 65 I have “younger” joints than I did at 50 when I still ate all the animal products. Both myself and my husband believe that going WFPB/ vegan is the best thing we ever e ver done. ❤️

Hi 👋🏼 I made your recipe. I have been experimenting with how to cook it. I found the best consistency when I pour the mixture in a small amount like 1/2 cup into a buttered fry pan and COVER, cooking for several minutes before flipping. That way it browns and is firm. I stuffed it into pitas with spinach and vegan cheese. It was lovely. Thank you for inspiring me to try this! 💛
I do CrossFit and am practicing to do my first muscle up. If you are doing it using a kipping motion i.e. not static, doing a lever arch where you keep your arms straight is the way they teach us at my box. This means that you are using less arm strength and exploiting the momentum from the kip swing to bring yourself up. This is probably why the pull ups and tricep dips didn't help much. I'm still working on my first one, but feel i now have the knowledge to get it done! Thanks for the vid!

As I have anemia, I can't have turmeric. It blocks 90% of iron absorbtion. So, what would be a good color substitute to get the egg color? I was thinking mustard powder, but I think that might alter the taste too much? Or just leave it out altogether?
